Hey guys. Unfortunately, nothing exciting for the first trip report for the new site. Some nice pics though, so i am happy. Left for St Kilda in hopes of fishing the evening shift for ST's and Snook. Arrived worrying about wind to find it mirror calm ;D This is when i realised my battery was at home, so no fishfinder, and more importantly, no lights Made my way out to find the water chocka block full of strands of ribbonweed (as usual ) I started to cast some lightly weighted Gulp 3in jerk shads in chartreuse. I cast towards the cardinal markers just out from the breakwater. On my 3rd cast, i only just noticed that my lure stopped sinking, so i wound in the slack and struck! I was on, but whatever it was it wasnt big. As it approached yakside i saw it was a snook of around 40cm, and at that point it chewed through the 4lb Nitlon leader, acheiving it's freedom. I had a few more casts on a couple of markers, receiving hits on all casts, but no hookups which makes me think they may be tiny salmon. Some pics.

Tommy ruffs are also bastards like that, will hit anything but can be hard to hook up. Upgrade that nitlon to at least 8lb if not 10. Not for strength but for thickness, snook tend to shred leaders if they swallow the lure or try a death roll on ya.
Anyway, thanks for the report and good to see ya on the water for once dude! The thrre marker/sunset photo is a ripper too. Anyway, back to the beers lol.

nice pics..i think i should start venturing out a bit more and try new species in the extreme bandit instead of the odd bream and mullies....
at least its nice to know there are something out there. so far my home with the yak is only west lake and the Port system. nothing there but bream and mullies.. mainly breams though..ohh and at the right time the juvenile snappers because a damn nuisances.
