sorry if this is posted in the wrong spot ok this is a long shot but surely there are enough yakers out there in this state to get a club started it only takes a few dedicated people to put there heads together and start a comity and orginise a set date every month to go out fishing we only need a small join in fee per trip and that could go towards trophy's at the end of the year i dont know if you need insurence as i havnt givn it that much thought but surely we could turn our hobby/sport into something that at least has potential of becoming something serious like the bream comps down here

Thats some good thinking Turtle
BUT!!! We thought of it first! ;D That is what this site is for, we have started it to attract a large enough following to successfully start a club

I tell you what, this is getting like kirk's bloody Shark Shield thread. It's come at a bad time because as Drew found out last night I'm nearing the end of my tether at the moment. Canoe SA is totally irrelevant. I used to be a member so i need to say that if you were a sea kayaker rather than a yak fisho it would be a different story but for us they are a crock. Other than the fact they don't cater for fishermen you need to understand that we primarily use SOT kayaks and they primarily use SIKs, they supply the vessels for courses and last time I checked they weren't SOTs. They aim at competitive paddlers and recreational paddlers which means SIKs and canoes primarily. Their events are mainly races, marathons, training courses and a few recreational paddles thrown in for fun. Our events will cater SPECIFICALLY to yak fishos which means relaxed fishing comps, fishing trips and social gatherings. Unless you love paddling the Murray for no reason (I know I do, seriously lol) CanoeSA has very little to offer us regular yak fishos. I should also add that this forum is the first step towards a kayak fishing club in SA, it isn't just another kayak fishing forum it is a piece in a very large puzzle. If anyone thinks that a club is already established they might as well save dealing with our trial and error approach and join up with them right now. I'm quickly gonna say that I took my admin cap off for this post because I'm sure Rob (the diplomat of the admin team ) is about to start firing PM's at me for being too agressive. ;D

ok i didnt mean to sugest no one was doing nothing about it and i aint gunna steal your thunder of starting a club im already in a fishing club and i fish all the state comps i will also be fishing the australian comp as well iv been on club comity before and know how it all works and as 70 percent of clubs down here are in financial crisis and or have closed down i think we need to try and get out there and promote this side of fishing befour we lose all comps and clubs
